ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I started in nature/wildlife photography, but was soon asked to start shooting portraits and events for friends a local businesses. In high school I apprenticed with a local wedding photographer and started building my portfolio, discovering along the way that shooting weddings was a lot of fun – and that I was good at it.

After high school I attended Ryerson University’s (now Toronto Metropolitan University) Image Arts program and began to work in commercial photography. I hated it, but learned an enormous amount along the way that enhanced my wedding and portrait photography and set me on my way!

I’ve now been shooting weddings for well over a decade, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario where I live, but also at destinations in the US and Caribbean.

Thanks for reading my bio!

  • Wedding photography is a lot like wildlife photography except that your subject is (typically) not running away.
  • I like shooting with super-telephoto lenses to highlight the subject and not get too close during candids.
  • The first images I sold were on greeting cards when I was a teenager in the late 1990s.
  • I resisted the photography + highlight reel trend for years, but once I tried it found out that I’m an idiot and it’s really cool.
  • I have three well-photographed dogs.
  • I like to think I’m funny, but my family tells me that I’m not.
  • I only shoot Nikon and prefer prime lenses over zoom lenses.
  • I used to carry all of my photography gear on a big belt like Batman and thought it was cool – it wasn’t.
